A Preliminary Study of Pixel-based Motion Compensation

چکیده
A pixel-based motion compensation (MC) technique where a motion vector is determined at every pixel is investigated. Image sequence compression using the present MC technique will require less bits for prediction error than that using conventional block-based MC techniques. One of the main problem of pixel-based MC is how to save the number of bits for the motion vectors. For this problem, some constraint is imposed between neighboring motion vectors. Experimental results have shown that the present MC technique can attain higher compression rates than a block-based MC technique for image sequences with large motion.

Iterative least squares and compression based estimations for a four-parameter linear global motion model and global motion compensation
In this paper, a four-parameter model for global motion in image sequences is proposed. The model is generalized and can accommodate global object motions besides the motions due to the camera movements. Only the PAN and the ZOOM global motions are considered because of their relatively more frequent occurrences in real video sequences. Besides the traditional leastsquares estimation scheme, tw...

The fractional-pixel motion compensation is used in the H.264/AVC algorithm, in order to improve the coding efficiency of fractional-pixel displacement, an efficient cubic convolution interpolation (CCI) with four coefficients is proposed. In this paper, the detailed derivation of the CCI filter and using CCI with fractional-pixel displacement are presented. It is shown by computer simulation t...

In this paper, we study a simplified affine motion model based coding framework to overcome the limitation of translational motion model and maintain low computational complexity. The proposed framework mainly has three key contributions. First, we propose to reduce the number of affine motion parameters from 6 to 4. The proposed four-parameter affine motion model can not only handle most of th...

This paper presents new methods for use of dense motion fields for motion compensation of interlaced video. The motion is estimated using previously decoded field-images. An initial motion compensated prediction is produced using the assumption that the motion is predictable in time. The motion estimation algorithm is phase-based and uses two or three field-images to achieve motion estimates wi...
